Thirty years ago — 1991

A proposal to launch “JETS” was recently presented to the Dunkirk School Board. Jesse Thomas, a former Dunkirk High School star athlete and graduate, outlined a program he spent five years designing called JETS (Just Enough Time to Study). The program’s basic concept is to use sports participation and good study habits as advocates in fighting drug abuse and school dropout.

Forty years ago — 1981

Fredonia Mayor Louis Mancuso announced today that he has decided to seek the nomination of the Concord and Republican parties for re-election to another two-year term in the March 9 village election. This is the first year that the Republicans will be running candidates in the village.

Fifty years ago — 1971
