Thirty years ago — 1991

Kelly Schonhart became the first girl at Forestville Central School to score 1,000 career points in basketball, reaching that milestone as in the Lady Hornets’ 49-41 Division 3 win over visiting Panama. Schonhart scored 23 points to boost her career total to 1,013.

Forty years ago — 1981

A.J. Wahl Inc., located at 2 Central Ave., Brocton, holds the distinction of designing and manufacturing the world’s first and only machine to produce suspension insulators for electrical lines. Suspension insulators are clay discs widely used to support high-tension electrical lines for the transmission of electrical power. The Brocton firm, which employs 75 people, is making a major contribution in the field of electrical energy with its machine, the Wahlco Automatic. The five major power companies in the U.S. have already purchased the Wahlco and the company is now selling the machine to foreign countries.

Fifty years ago — 1971

More than 75 relatives and friends attended the silver wedding anniversary party honoring Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pachol of Roosevelt Avenue, Dunkirk. Mr. Pachol and the former Arlene Wolfe were married Feb. 23, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church.
