Thirty years ago — 1991
Two physicians with more than 60 years of combined service have retired from the active medical staff at Brooks Hospital. Ronald Passafaro, M.D. has retired from his practice in internal medicine after 34 years of service. He joined the medical staff in 1957. John P. Shutt, M.D., will be retiring Aug. 1 as the hospital’s pathologist after 29 years of service in the Brooks Hospital laboratory. G. Jay Bishop, M.D., will be taking over for Dr. Passafaro. John Orosz, M.D., will become a full-time pathologist.
Forty years ago — 1981
Susan Glasheen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Glasheen of Central Avenue, Fredonia is one of eight Chautauqua County girls selected by the Chautauqua Area Girl Scout Council to participate in Wyoming Trek ’81. A Fredonia High School sophomore, Susan is the recipient of Girl Scouting’s highest award, the First Class Award.

Ronald J. Rys of Dunkirk, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rys, 27 East Doughty St., Dunkirk is now serving aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid.
