Thirty years ago — 1991
The winner of the 1991 Kazan Mosher Memorial Award is Molly Harper of Mayville. The award is presented annually to the “outstanding 4-H member” at the Chautauqua County Fair in memory of Kazan Mosher, a longtime Chautauqua County 4-H member from South Dayton. The presentation of the award was made by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mosher during the County Fair Herdsman Award Program.
Forty years ago — 1981
Ronald S. Baker, 15, of 42 Highland Ave., Brocton left for the national championships of the Jesse Owens Games at UCLA’s Drake Stadium in Los Angeles. Ronald, a 440-yard sprinter, will compete in a field of 14 other boys ages 14-15. He qualified for the national championships earlier this month when he won the Buffalo Regional Championship’s 440-yard dash at All-High Stadium.
Fifty years ago — 1971
Joseph A. Zanghi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Zanghi of Jay Street, Dunkirk graduated last week from Oklahoma State University. A Cardinal Mindszenty High School alumnus, he will leave shortly for the University of Oklahoma to begin work on a master’s degree in human relations.
