Thirty years ago — 1991

The Westfield Academy and Central School Homecoming king, queen, prince and princess were crowned during the recent homecoming dance. They are Princess Stephanie Clawson, King Giovanni Perria, Queen Gabriella Goiorchea and Prince Michael Catalano. The king and queen are foreign exchange students from Spain and Italy respectively.

Forty years ago — 1981

The Dunkirk Urban Renewal Agency has agreed to allow Dunkirk businessman James Andrews to begin making improvements to the former Graf Building at 319 Central Ave. and ordered final papers drawn up to sell the building to him. Mr. Andrews owns the “Olde Colony Furniture” story at 320 Central Ave. (across the street from the Graf Building). He has agreed to pay $70,000 to DURA for the Graf Building.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Citizens of the village of Fredonia and town of Pomfret have formed, “Citizens for Local Environmental Action Now (CLEAN). According to Malcolm A. Nelson, one of the organizers, the purpose of the group is to spur the passage of legislation and other political action to aid our threatened environment.
