Thirty years ago — 1991

The Rev. Loville N. Martlock, who taught religious education at the former Cardinal Mindszenty High School in Dunkirk, has been named administrator of St. Benedict the Moor Parish in Buffalo. Father Martlock also served as pastor of St. John Fisher Parish in South Dayton and St. Elizabeth Parish in Cherry Creek.

Forty years ago — 1981

The First United Church of Silver Creek recently honored its Pastor Emeritus, the Rev. Leslie Doerschug. The service included the dedication of a three-octave set of handbells given to the church by the Doerschug family and the Paul Steese family, who are members of the congregation. During his pastorate, the congregation was able to pay off a $12,000 mortgage.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Cadet Bernard C. Barris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norwood J. Barris, 755 Park Ave., Dunkirk is one of more than 750 cadets who have entered their senior year at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
