Thirty years ago — 1991

The committee organizing the first Community Christmas/ Sharing With Children Santa Claus Parade has announced that Dunkirk resident Frankie Kye will serve as grand marshal for the Nov. 23 event. The parade will serve as a kickoff to the fourth annual toy drive. In the three years since its inception, nearly 4,000 north county children have received toys.

Forty years ago — 1981

A Forestville resident has ventured into the world of music with the recording, “What It Takes To Live,” released nationwide Oct. 28 by KNC Enterprise Records in Cleveland. The recording was co-produced by Sylvester Cleary of 10109 Bradigan Road, Forestville and his musical partner of the past 16 years, Jesse Key of Buffalo. Besides writing both the lyrics and music, the two men are featured vocalists on the recording.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Bryan Goddard, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Goddard of 6 East Ave., Sinclairville is the Student of the Week. He is a senior at Cassadaga Valley Central School.
