Thirty years ago — 1991
Pastor Steve Wuthrich is the new senior pastor of the First Baptist Church, 876 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Pastor Earl Leiby was senior pastor for nearly 11 years, resigning at the end of August to accept a semi-retirement associate pastor position near Detroit, Mich. Pastor Wuthrich has served for two years as Pastor Leiby’s assistant. He and his wife, the former Denise Briden, and their two sons, reside at the church parsonage, 827 Washington Ave., Dunkirk.
Forty years ago — 1981
Student of the Week at Cassadaga Valley Central School is Glen C. Sisson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Sisson of Damon Hill Road, Sinclairville. He has excelled in both academics and extracurricular activities. He participates in varsity basketball, volleyball and track, and is a member of the Varsity Club, Senior Chorus and Valley Minstrels. Glen is president of the Student Council and a member of the National Honor Society. His future plans include attending a four-year college to study electrical engineering.
Fifty years ago — 1971
“Share With Others,” is the motto of the Salvation Army this holiday season. The annual kettle drive was launched last week in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area.
