Thirty years ago – 1991

About 15 people turned out for a public hearing on a proposal to build a group home for eight developmentally disabled adults on a portion of now unopened Caracal Street north of East Chestnut Street in Dunkirk. First Ward Councilman Don Brisky explained that the people are not against the group home but are against the present property owner, John Runfola, making personal gains as a result of the project. It was noted that since the project is being proposed by The Resource Center, the city has very little control over many aspects of it.

Forty years ago — 1981

Two students represented the Collage Performing Arts Center at the recent All American Talent Awards national performing arts competition in Harrisburg, Pa. Judy Fabrizio took first place in gymnastics and Cindy Green was awarded second place in baton competition. Performing together, the girls were awarded first and second place trophies for duo novelty and duo tap, respectively.

Fifty years ago — 1971

A duplicate bridge club is being organized in the area, with the first party planned in January. Organizers include Mrs. Harry Peters, Mrs. George Hutchinson and Mrs. William C. Cotner.
