Thirty years ago — 1991

Dunkirk Radiator Corp., which is the nation’s third-largest maker of residential boilers, plans to start selling its home heating units to the Russians next spring. An agreement has already been inked with a large company in Moscow to sell and service the boilers and two Russians are now in Dunkirk learning how to market and repair the units back in their own country. Most boilers in the Moscow area today are similar to those found in this country 50 years ago.

Forty years ago — 1981

The Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department recently took delivery of a new $40,000 rescue truck. The department paid for the truck with money raised through bingo and donations. Viola Dorman presented the fire department with a check for $500 from the Auxiliary. The money will be used to purchase equipment for the truck.

Fifty years ago — 1971

David L. MacCubbin recently opened D & J Pools at Route 60 and McAllister Road, Fredonia.
