Thirty years ago — 1992

Now open for business, The Pathway of Light New Age Bookstore is located at 21 Water St., Fredonia. The store offers a large variety of books on various topics, along with gemstones, incense, jewelry, candles, tapes and Native American items. The store owner is Marcella Bens of Lily Dale.

Forty years ago — 1982

Dunkirk Fourth Ward Councilwoman Carol Brown is urging residents of the entire city to sign a petition being circulated asking the legislative and administrative branches of city government to take whatever steps are necessary to end the blocking of grade crossings by stopped trains on the Norfolk and Western Railroad tracks. The petition was started by a resident who observed children crawling over and through the stopped trains on the tracks.

Fifty years ago — 1972

Karen M. Trippy, a senior at Westfield Academy and Central School, is the Student of the Week. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Trippy, 117 Jefferson St., Westfield.
