Thirty years ago — 1992

A “Do You Remember?” photo recalls “The Erie Railroad,” written and directed by Grace Abbey of Forestville and presented back in 1947 in the Forestville High School as a benefit for the March of Dimes. Brothers Clarence and Nelson Homan were in the cast of the production. The photo was submitted by Anita Espersen of Fredonia.

Forty years ago — 1982

The “Kickbush Hollow Band,” composed of four musicians from northern Chautauqua County, was named as the second-runnerup (third place) at the state finals of the Country Starsearch contest for country music bands. Ten bands from across the state competed at the Statler Hilton in Buffalo with over 800 fans in attendance. Members of the band are Brad Hall, Silver Creek; Lance Babcock, Forestville; Ron Kuciapinski, Cassadaga; and Leonard Kuzora, Fredonia. Terrance Sikora of Fredonia is the band manager.

Fifty years ago — 1972

Jim Kelly of Westfield, Division IX president of the New York State Jaycees, has announced that Robert Guenther of Fredonia will represent Division IX in the New York State finals of the Outstanding Teenage Young Man contest.
