Thirty years ago — 1992

Ronald Duliba, son of Ronald and Tina Duliba of Straight Road, Forestville and a third-grade honors student at Forestville Elementary School, has received word that he is the winner in a logic problem contest sponsored by the Buffalo Museum of Science. Ronald received a $25 gift certificate to the museum’s gift shop.

Forty years ago — 1982

Seated at tables decorated with commemorative mugs and summer straw hats, their “Wild about Larry” campaign banners replete with colorful flower and ribbon trim, 315 Elks from throughout the state, their wives and guests stood several times in ovations to Lawrence J. Haase Sr. of Dunkirk, president of the New York State Elks Association. The occasion was the “homecoming” for Mr. Haase, the first member in the 77-year history of Dunkirk Lodge 922 to hold the coveted state office.

Fifty years ago — 1972

The Farner-Parker Ice Cream Shoppe at 210 East Main St., Fredonia has opened for the season. Cones are 25 and 35 cents and any flavor milkshake is 29 cents.
