Thirty years ago — 1992
Student of the Week is Robert E. Lewis Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Lewis Sr. of 108 South Gale St., Westfield. A senior at Westfield Academy and Central School, Robert is an honor student majoring in French and business. He is a member of the National Honor Society and also active in athletics, where he was awarded five letters in wrestling, four letters in track and two letters in varsity football. Following graduation, Robert will attend JCC on a USA scholarship to major in business administration.
Forty years ago — 1982
Jeb Stewart Fries of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Fredonia, was one of three successful candidates in a writing competition for placement on the staff of the University of Baltimore Law Review. In his winning casenote. Mr. Fries analyzed a recent Maryland Court of Appeals decision on the admission of a convicted felon to the Maryland bar — his was the only submission by a first-year law student to be accepted by Law Review editors. He is the son of Dr. Maureen Fries of Fredonia.

The Northern Chautauqua County Dental Group has elected Dr. Harry A. Pogorzelski of Dunkirk as president.
