Thirty years ago — 1992

Dunkirk Mayor Margaret Wuerstle confirmed that the city is looking into the possibility of closing a city fire hall as a way to cut expenses. There have been proposals in the past to close Hose 1 fire hall on East Fourth Street and Mayor Wuerstle said that based on available information, it still seems to her to be the most logical one to close.

Forty years ago — 1982

Thanks to the generous gift of a building and the tireless efforts of a group of dedicated volunteers, the Cassadaga Branch Library is going to have a new home in the near future. The building, located on South Main Street, has been donated by Mrs. Lucille Meyers. The library is currently housed in the Cassadaga Elementary School building. Relocation became necessary when the space was needed for classrooms.

Fifty years ago — 1972

Petri Bakery Products Inc. of Dunkirk has submitted a bid of $10,000 to the Dunkirk Common Council for the purchase of two city-owned lots on the unopened section of West Seventh Street off Brigham Road. Richard Petri said the bakery, now located at 60 Franklin Ave., Dunkirk plans to erect a new plant on the property.
