Thirty years ago — 1992
The demolition of the old Grand Theater building located in Westfield at the intersection of Route 394 and Main Street is becoming close to a reality with donations of $21,677 toward purchase of the building by private individuals and businesses. The original concept, once the theater was demolished, was to make the site into a small park after demolishing two other buildings. Other alternatives are also being explored at this time.
Forty years ago — 1982
The Murraymen Drum and Bugle Corps traveled to Buffalo recently to march in the Pulaski Day Parade. The corps took first place in the senior drum and bugle corps category, finishing the 1982 season on a winning note. Even though this was a rebuilding year for the entire corps, they finished the season strong, going undefeated after recapturing the New York State title in August. Also, the corps received the highest score given this year by the NY-Penn Judging Association, 89.5
Fifty years ago — 1972
The American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award has been presented to Dr. Arnold B. Victor, who resides in Fredonia and has his office in Dunkirk.
