Thirty years ago — 1992

The Community Christmas/ Sharing With Children Toy Drive has moved to a new location, the old Meister Contracting Company building at 100 Ruggles St. in Dunkirk. Heading up the drive are Chet Kozlowski, Clara Ameno and Bill Dybeck. The drive is entering its fifth year.

Forty years ago – 1982

A new hydraulic elevator has been installed at Brocton Central School by L.H. Ludwig & Co. Inc. of Falconer. The total cost of the project is estimated at $86,000. The school is receiving about $54,000 in state aid for the elevator. Shown in a photo ready to use the elevator are Mary Czysz, a seventh-grade student at Brocton Central School and Robert Hall, high school principal.

Fifty years ago — 1972

The federal government today is mailing $2.6 billion in checks to some 39,000 state and local governments, the first installment of the financial bonanza called revenue sharing.
