Thirty years ago — 1993
Timothy Plyler, 17, a senior at Brocton Central School, has been chosen as Student of the Week. He ranks in the upper third of his class and is a member of the National Honor Society and Business Club. Tim has participated in varsity baseball and football and the Archery Club. The son of Mr. and Mrs. David Plyler of Webster Road, Fredonia, he plans to major in biology at the University of Rochester.
Forty years ago — 1983
A meeting is scheduled at the Sheridan Fire Hall to discuss the formation of a new Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Sheridan. A minimum of 25 members is required to form the new charter. Eligibility in the Veterans of Foreign Wars includes the issuance of a campaign medal for overseas service.
Fifty years ago — 1973
Noel Ames was elected chief of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Co. Inc. at the annual election. Lawrence Carlson was reelected as first assistant chief and Robert Belovorac as second assistant chief.
