Jack Thorpe, son of legendary Indian athlete Jim Thorpe, is pictured holding up one of his father’s Olympic gold medals that were returned to the family of Thorpe by the International Olympic Committee in ceremonies in Los Angeles. Thorpe, a Sac Indian, was the greatest athlete of his day and won two gold medals in the 1912 Olympics for the decathlon and the pentathlon. They were taken from him when it was learned he played semi-pro baseball in 1910.
