Thirty years ago — 1993
Student of the Week is Raymond Hudack, a senior at Silver Creek Central School. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hudack of 12809 Cayuga Drive, Irving, he is currently ranked second in his class. Ray is a participant in SUNY Fredonia’s 3-1-3 program, a member of the National Honor Society and an avid golfer and bowler. He plans to attend the University of Rochester to pursue a degree in chemistry.
Forty years ago — 1983
Daniel Adamczak, 724 Grant Ave., Dunkirk was named recently as honorary chairman of the annual Hose Co. No. 1 installation banquet. He joined the company in 1935 and is a life member of Southwestern, Western and New York State Volunteer Firemen’s Associations. Albert “Jake” Foley, a local attorney, will also receive honors at the banquet for 50 years of service to Hose Co. No. 1. Also being honored this year are Leonard F. Schrantz, Carl Waterman, Robert Teclaw, Robert Meyer and Robert Michalski.
Fifty years ago — 1973
The newly-organized drum corps of the Murray Hose Co. No. 4 in Dunkirk made its debut by marching in the VFW conventionparade through the city. The drum major is Chet Tarnowski.
