Thirty years ago — 1993
Dick Lord Sr. and David Lord, both of Fredonia, recently showed off their antique cars at Shorewood Country Club. Dick Lord’s car is a 1937 Cadillac Opera Coupe with two pull-down seats in back. The color is a rich Beauregard beige. David Lord’s self-restored 1930 Model A coupe is Thorn Brown in color with black fenders and wheels and pinstripe in Ford orange.
Forty years ago — 1983
Preliminary approval has been received from the Commerce Department for $4 million in federal aid for modernization of Roblin Industries Inc., Dunkirk and Tonawanda plants. The company, currently enjoying a positive cash flow, plans to use the funds to purchase a number of pieces of equipment to reduce production costs. Roblin has sold off all but its steelmaking operations and reduced its debt by $25.44 million.
Fifty years ago — 1973
The True Temper Corporation of Dunkirk honored Anthony Ortolano and Stanley Skubis this month. Both will be retiring and together have a combined 71 years of service with the company.
