Thirty years ago — 1993
Dunkirk Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 89 was awarded first place for Moose International Community Service (1992- 1993) at the 105th international convention. The convention was held in Chicago over the Memorial Day weekend and 2,200 lodges competed for the honor. The Dunkirk Moose Lodge Community Service Program is active throughout Chautauqua County.
Forty years ago — 1983
Robert Nixon is retiring after a 26-year career as a school bus driver for the Brocton Central School District. A Brocton native, he has operated a dairy and grape farm. He has driven Brocton school buses from 1952-59 and from 1964-83. All 10 of his children have attended school in Brocton. The Class of 1983 at Brocton Central School has dedicated the yearbook to Mr. Nixon.
Fifty years ago — 1973
DavidWoods, public relations director at Stony Brook State University College and the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Woods of Dunkirk, has been awarded a certificate of special merit for outstanding community relations by the American College Public Relations Association.
