Thirty years ago — 1993

Allison Etzel, daughter of Allen and Carol Etzel of Dunkirk, is currently residing in Argentina as part of the Dunkirk Rotary Exchange Student Program. Allison will remain in Argentina until May 1994.

Forty years ago — 1983

A decision by the Springville Board of Education to close the Collins Center Elementary School last June has been upheld by Commissioner Gordon M. Ambach of the New York State Education Department. When school resumed in September, the 87 kindergarten through fifth grade students from Collins Center were incorporated into classes held at the Springville Elementary School.

Fifty years ago — 1973

The meeting of the Slippery Rock 4-H Club was presided over by Ann Carr, president, with Marcie Peting leading the salute to the flag. Bruce Neal led the club pledge to close the meeting.
