Thirty years ago — 1994
Two Westfield brothers, Andrew and Michael Cash, followed a career choice made as teenagers and within a year of each other, graduated from medical school. Both brothers graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo. Dr. Andrew Cash has completed a one-year internship in internal medicine at Warren General Hospital in Warren, Ohio. Dr. Michael Cash is in the process of completing a one-year internship, also at Warren General, in the field of family medicine. Andrew and Michael are the sons of Anthony and Connie Cash of Westfield.
Forty years ago — 1984
Mrs. Gilda Hutchinson of Dunkirk has been appointed to the College Council of Fredonia State University College for a term expiring June 30, 1991. Mrs. Hutchinson is a former assistant professor of English at the Fredonia college, first appointed in 1947. In 1955, she left to raise her children, returning part-time in 1962 and 1970. She was a member of the Dunkirk School Board from 1971 to 1978 and is active in local and national politics, serving as a member and former officer of the Democratic Womenás Club.
Fifty years ago — 1974
A plaque was dedicated earlier this month for Dunkirk’s wooden sculpture, “Ong-gwe-ohn-weh,” near the Dunkirk Filtration Plant. The sculpture was made by artist Peter Toth as a tribute to the plight of the American Indian.
