Thirty years ago — 1994

The Northern Chautauqua Catholic School Board of Education announced that Michael E. Goth of Silver Creek has been named principal. Mr. Goth recently retired as principal of Silver Creek Elementary School after 15 years of service. Prior to coming to Silver Creek in February 1977, he served as principal of the Cattaraugus Elementary School for 10 years. In addition, he has served as a supervisor of student teachers at Fredonia State University College.

Forty years ago — 1984

The U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights, was one of the featured attractions at the recent Western New York International Air Show at the Niagara Falls Airport. Handling the behind-the-scenes arrangements and scheduling for the team was Capt. Michelle Hughes Koehler, a former Fredonian. She is the operations officer for the world-famous parachuting team which is celebrating its silver anniversary this year. Michelle is the daughter of Shirley Snyder Hughes and Virgil W. “Bill” Hughes, both of Fredonia. She is an alumna of Fredonia High School.

Fifty years ago — 1974

Dancing instruction and refreshments, sponsored by the Ballroom Dance Club, were featured recently at the Kosciuszko Club in Dunkirk.
