Thirty years ago — 1994
The Cardinal Mindszenty Alumni Association held an organizational meeting recently at the home of Peter and Pauline Zaccari. The agenda of the meeting consisted of discussion about reopening a Catholic high school in Chautauqua County. Letters will be sent to all interested alumni and a fundraising campaign will begin. Information booths will be set up at the Northern Chautauqua Catholic School Summerfest and Alumni T-shirts will be sold. An open meeting will take place Sept. 2 at the Newman Center at which time committee chairmen will be chosen.
Forty years ago — 1984
Edgewater Condominiums has completed 52 of the 166 planned units which are located on Lake Erie near Westfield. Prices start at $36,900 and include carpeting, patios, balconies and appliances. Pools, lounges and tennis courts are also offered at Edgewater.
Fifty years ago — 1974
Dunkirk’s off-track betting parlor will be located at 81 East Fifth St., the Western Region Off-Track Betting Corporation of Batavia announced. The starting salary for a manager of an offtrack betting parlor was estimated to be $11,000 per year.
