The quilt is made of over 300 pieces of fabric, most from scraps of students’ clothing. He plans to devote awall to displaying the quilt at home. Mr. Goth’s career in education spans 32 years. Thirty years ago — 1992 Dunkirk’s Hispanic population has grown at an even faster rate than the rest of the country over the last decade. From 1980 to 1989, the number of Hispanics across the nation increased by 39 percent. In Dunkirk, that segment of the population experienced an increase of 70 percent. Thirty years ago — 1992 A mortgage-burning ceremony was held this week in front of the United Way office, 626 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The ceremony was the final step of a capital drive which started in 1990 in an effort to retire the mortgage and establish a capital fund to maintain the building. Thirty years ago — 1992 Lynne Ruch of Westfield was recently crowned the 1992 Chautauqua County Dairy Princess, a title she will share with Jennifer Beightol of Falconer. Lynne is the daughter of Jack and Cathy Ruch and a junior at Westfield Academy and Central School. She is active in band, chorus, National Honor Society and 4-H.
