BROOKS HOSPITAL Cash crisis may affect a future

Those area residents concerned about Brooks Memorial Hospital renovating at its current location and not relocating to its possible future home in Fredonia need a dose of reality. Brooks, at the current moment, controls very little of its future due to its poor fiscal standing.

Within the last month, New York state confirmed it is helping the health-care institution maintain its operations. In other words, the cash-flow crisis is real at the city hospital.

According to the most recent Interal Revenue Service 990 forms, Brooks recorded a deficit of $12.7 million from 2013 to 2016. That’s highly alarming.

Location of the new hospital is not the big deal at the moment. Unfortunately, the current fiscal crisis may hamper whether the new facility will get built and if it can be sustainable.

It is a dire time at the moment.
