HIGHWAY: Smoother ride deserves credit
It took years of bumpy rides and uncomfortable driving, but the New York State Thruway Authority — finally — deserves some applause for its work on the three-mile section of highway east of Exit 58 near Silver Creek.
Within the last month, officials admitted the road was in much worse shape than they realized, but the section had been ignored for more than a decade. Today, it is not perfect, but a much smoother ride.
Some of that is due to U.S. Rep. Tom Reed and newly elected state Sen. George Borrello for their press conferences to keep the pressure on New York state. Other pressure came from residents who wrote letters or voiced their concerns.
For now, however, the improvements are greatly appreciated by all from here who rely on that Interstate to get us to Buffalo and points east.
