Keeping history alive with event

Fredonia resident Todd Langworthy loves history — and this weekend is right down his alley.

As chairman of the Fredonia History Days, Langworthy has been working to make sure this event is once again a success. Even though it will not be in the heart of the village due to construction, there is plenty of reason to head out to the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds in Dunkirk.

Some of the happenings from Friday to Saturday include: The annual Classic Car and Bike show is Friday with the Buffalo based rockabilly band V-Syx will provide music; Fredonia’s Michael Gerholdt performs from Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon, with his repertoire of early acoustic blues to folk-rock-pop and originals; Sean Patrick McGraw will make his only area appearance for 2021later; and F.O.M.R Band from Buffalo will be playing two sets of the classic rock hits.

Langworthy also will be doing a Candlelight Walking Tour of Pioneer Cemetery on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. The cemetery is located on Main Street in Fredonia. Tickets for this are only available online at https://festivalsfredoniany.org/…/candlelight-walking…/

Langworthy — and all those participating this weekend — deserve plenty of thanks for keeping this community effort going.
