We would not be surprised to see a solid turnout for a public hearing that will take place next month. As reported earlier this month by the OBSERVER, the state Department of Transportation is looking to widen Route 60 from Route 83 to Route 20.

Many would agree that is long past overdue. Route 60, as those who travel it on a regular basis, know how dangerous that stretch of road can be.

The meeting, which was listed as a legal notice, will be Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Fredonia Opera House. DOT representatives will be available to answer questions about the project and displays and informational stations will be available.

As for now, this is a step in the right direction.
