Two under was the score of the fifth-place team consisting of Trenny Jordon, Rick Lawson, Gene Noble and Dennis Shively. Dunkirk football coach Mike Sarratori has announced the Dunkirk Football Golf Tournament, scheduled for July 10 has been cancelled due to many factors.

The Gowanda Booster Club will host its second G-Town Golf Tournament on Monday, July 18, at Gowanda Country Club.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., shotgun at 10:30 a.m. The format for the G-Town Golf Tournament will continue to be a four-person scramble with multiple prizes for golfers. The $100 per-person entry fee includes greens fee, cart, lunch and dinner ($75 for GCC member; $60 GCC member with cart lease.) Golfers or hole sponsors can contact Sue Rebmann at 597-5929 or Sonja Winship at 560-4628 for details.
After last year’s successful event with more than 80 golfers, 20 hole sponsors and donations from local businesses, GBC was able to award four GCS graduating students Panther P.R.I.D.E. Scholarships in the amount of $500 each. The 2016 recipients of the GBC Panther P.R.I.D.E. were Elizabeth Hammond, Devon Clark, Madeline Ackley and Brooke Strawder.
The next event on the G-Town calendar is Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016. The night of the third annual Community Spirit Parade. Join us by making a float, walking together with your team, business or block of G-Town friends, or join us by cheering on the sidewalk as the parade streams through Gowanda.
Parade lineup starts at 4 p.m. behind the Hollywood Theater, but pre-registration is required. Contact Jennifer Gernatt for an application form at 860-8782.
Then after the parade, the excitement continues when the infamous Powder Puff Game takes place at Hillis Field, as the senior girls from the Class of 2017 take on the junior girls from the Class of 2018 in a friendly game of flag football.

Wednesday Travel League – John Bongiovanni earned his first victory of the season with the low round of 81 at Byrncliff Resort in Varysburg. Bongiovanni was also the low man on the back nine with a 40. Joe Michalski finished second with an 84 and was the low man on the front nine with a 39. Dunkirk Athletic Physicals
There are free sports physicals being given today between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the high school health office for next year’s students in grades 7-12.
Any student playing a sport next year at Dunkirk High School should pick up paperwork from their school nurse and return it at the time of the physical or bring a parent with them on June 23.
The doctor will not see a student without the parent’s signature on the supplied paperwork. Any questions should be directed to the athletic department.

Nick Zatorski ripped two doubles among his four hits to lead Lucky Lanes offensively, while Dominick Corsi added a pair of doubles and a single. Jack Lanski and Josiah Cox each added a base hit for the winners, with Corsi earning the win on the hill in relief.

Gowanda Boosters Club Upcoming Events
The Gowanda Booster Club will host its second G-Town Golf Tournament on Monday, July 18, at Gowanda Country Club.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., shotgun at 10:30 a.m. The format for the G-Town Golf Tournament will continue to be a four-person scramble with multiple prizes for golfers. The $100 per-person entry fee includes greens fee, cart, lunch and dinner ($75 for GCC member; $60 GCC member with cart lease.) After last year’s successful event with more than 80 golfers, 20 hole sponsors and donations from local businesses, GBC was able to award four GCS graduating students Panther P.R.I.D.E. Scholarships in the amount of $500 each. The 2016 recipients of the GBC Panther P.R.I.D.E. were Elizabeth Hammond, Devon Clark, Madeline Ackley and Brooke Strawder.
The next event on the G-Town calendar is Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016. The night of the third annual Community Spirit Parade. Join us by making a float, walking together with your team, business or block of G-Town friends, or join us by cheering on the sidewalk as the parade streams through Gowanda.

The Gowanda Recreation summer program will hold its pre-registration at St. John Park on Thursday, June 30 from 5:30-7 pm. Children must be at least 6 years of age and no older than 14 in order to attend the program.
The first day of recreation in Tuesday, July 5. The six-week program runs from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. each weekday through Aug. 12. There is no cost to participate in the program.

Westfield hospital foundation
golf slots still available
There still are slots available for the Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 24th Annual Golf Tournament scheduled for Friday, July 15, as announced by Patty DiPalma, executive director.
This competition is on the Lake Course at the Chautauqua Golf Club. Starting with lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., there will be a “scramble format” with a shotgun start at noon. In addition, there will be a 5 p.m. cocktail reception followed by a prime rib dinner at 6 p.m. served by Andriaccio’s. Golfers also may invite guests to join them for dinner for an additional fee of $55 per person. This includes gifts for each golfer, a silent auction, raffles and contests.
All proceeds will benefit the Westfield Memorial Hospital Emergency Department upgrade, scheduled to begin in the fall. The WMH Foundation is the major sponsor for this upgrade, so golfers also will have provided a contribution to this project.

Shorewood Country Club Jr. golf reunion
The Shorewood Country Club Jr. Golf program is a long-time tradition at the club. On July 24, a reunion tournament will be held at Shorewood Country Club for all past members of the Shorewood Jr. Golf program. The tournament is also a fundraiser in honor of past Director, Margaret Mead. All proceeds from the tournament will go to run for research benefitting Project ALS.

Kevin Kaszuba shot a new league course record 72 (even-par) at Buffalo Tournament Club in Lancaster. Kaszuba beat the old record of 76 held by Gary Richardson and earned his 15th career tour victory. Ed Tofil was runner-up with 75 and became just the third golfer in league history to reach 3,000 career points. Tofil was low on the front nine with an even-par 36 and Kaszuba was low on the back nine with a 2-under par 34. In the B Flight, Bob Thompson won on a tiebreaker over Mick Dunning. There still are slots available for the Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 24th Annual Golf Tournament scheduled for Friday, July 15, as announced by Patty DiPalma, executive director.
This competition is on the Lake Course at the Chautauqua Golf Club. Starting with lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., there will be a “scramble format” with a shotgun start at noon. In addition, there will be a 5 p.m. cocktail reception followed by a prime rib dinner at 6 p.m. served by Andriaccio’s. Golfers also may invite guests to join them for dinner for an additional fee of $55 per person. This includes gifts for each golfer, a silent auction, raffles and contests.
All proceeds will benefit the Westfield Memorial Hospital Emergency Department upgrade, scheduled to begin in the fall. The WMH Foundation is the major sponsor for this upgrade, so golfers also will have provided a contribution to this project.

NCCR Golf Tourney
Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue is currently registering golfers for its third annual Putts For Mutts Golf Tournament to be held the morning of June 4th at Pinehurst Golf Club 7428 E. Main Road, Westfield.
This 18-hole, two-person scramble is $60 per person and includes a barbecue lunch afterward. There will be a number of prizes for the golfers, as well as raffles, that will be open to everyone. The 8th annual Fredonia Central School Boys’ basketball Camp will be held July 5-8 at the Fredonia High School and Middle School gymnasiums from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cost for the Camp is $95 at the door, or $80 if paid by June 23rd. The camp is open to boys entering grades 3 through 12. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt if they pre-paid.
Each athlete is expected to arrive between 9-9:30 a.m. The camp will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. Athletes are expected to bring their own lunch.

Wednesday Travel League – The league held its first Major event of the season, the New York Open, in its inaugural trip to The Links at Ivy Ridge in Akron.

The 5th annual Black Knight Hall of Fame golf tournament will be held Monday, July 18 at Tri County Country Club, with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start with food to follow.

Football Players and Cheerleaders Signups
The Westfield Goldenhawks will be holding registration for football and cheerleaders on Tuesday, June 7 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, June 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Welch Field.
The fee for playing is $50 per player, plus 10, $10 tickets to sell, with family discounts available.
New players interested in playing need to bring a copy of their birth certificate.
Flag Football is available for ages 6-8 while flag cheerleading is available for those who are older than 6 years old and be in grades 1-3.
Minihawk football is for those who are 9 years old by Dec. 1, and no older than 11. Minihawk Cheerleading is for participants in grades 4-5.
For those interested in Goldenhawk football, they must be 11 years old if over 115 pounds and 12-13 year olds by Aug. 1. Goldenhawk Cheerleading is for participants in grades 6-8 and must be 13 before Aug. 1.

The Fredonia boys’ basketball program will be hosting its 4th annual “Gym Rats Basketball Camp” this July at the Wheelock Primary School Gym.
The camp is for boys and girls ages 4-9 and will be held the week of July 11-15. The camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon, daily. Campers will participate in lead-up games, relay races, and a lot of passing, dribbling, ball handling and shooting. All campers get a free T-shirt and daily snack. The first 50 campers registered will receive a complementary youth-sized basketball.
The cost for camp is $65 ($100 for two family members).

Each player is expected to arrive between 8:30-8:55 a.m. Camp will start promptly at 9 a.m. Athletes are expected to bring their own lunch. There will be cold pop, water and Gatorade for sale at lunch time and at the end of the day.
All athletes should have their ride pick them up at 3:30 p.m. All parents are welcome to come to the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 1.

Paradis Fencing pounded out 10 hits in a solid offensive attack. Gabe Schrader had three hits including two doubles while Davon McCall also had two doubles. Dawson Bird, Kaden Brushaber, Ryan Cerrie, Derek Paradis and Jacob Sullivan also hits in the win. Pitching was done by McCall, Cerrie and Bird.

Dawson Bird and Gabe Schrader crossed the plate in both the first and last innings to help defeat Gullo’s Landscaping. Schrader had two triples while Kam Mages singled twice in the win. Bird added a double of his own.
Schrader got the win on the mound striking out 14 batters and allowing only two hits, while Davon McCall pitched solid in relief.
Trevor Persch and Nick Whitfield had the lone hits for Gullo Landscaping. Persch, Nick Whitfield and Keegan Whitfield shared pitching duties in the loss.
