Silver Creek Kiwanis golf tourney June 29

The Silver Creek Kiwanis Club plans a day of friendly competition Friday, June 29, while helping the children of Northern Chautauqua County, with the 23rd Annual Charity Golf tournament. It will be held at Tri County Country Club. The day will include a continental breakfast, golf, lunch, appetizers and prizes. Check in is from 7:45-8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m., rain or shine. The format is a four man scramble.

Entry fee is $110 ($95 if paid by today). Deadline to register is June 27. To register, please contact gailmiller3@aol.com or call 934-4356. Applications are also available at Tri-County.

The Kiwanis Club supports children in the communities of Silver Creek, Forestville, Sheridan, Irving, and the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Their work is funded solely through fundraisers and contributions. It is the goal of the club to continue to have a meaningful impact on our community’s children.

Pitching for Paws softball tournament July 28

Pitching for Paws is holding its second annual Pitching for Paws Co-Ed Softball Tournament on Saturday, July 28 in Dunkirk. Registration is $25 per player and team registration deadline is June 29. There is a 10 team limit, so register early to get in! The rescues will be joining us and bringing out some of their adoptable pets for you to meet. Proceeds will benefit Lakeshore Humane Society, Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Sadie’s Safe Harbor Canine Rescue and City of Buffalo Animal Shelter. Fredonia State hosting kids’ soccer camp

The Fredonia State Blue Devils will be hosting a soccer camp for kids from Sunday, June 24 to Thursday, June 28. The camp will be held for ages 4-16 for all boys and girls. Ages 9-16 will be their own group while ages 4-8 will take part in the “Junior Kickers Camp.” Sign-ups are available at fredoniabluedevils.com and for more information, email gondek@fredonia.edu.

Fredonia Central School sets basketball camp

The 10th annual Fredonia Central School Boys’ Basketball Camp will be held June 29-30 and July 2-3 at the Fredonia High School and Middle School gymnasiums from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Cost for the camp is $95 at the door, or $80 if paid by June 26. The camp is open to boys entering grades 3 through 12. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt if they pre-pay. Each athlete is expected to arrive between 9 and 9:30 a.m. The camp will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. Athletes are expected to bring their own lunches.

Gowanda Recreation registration set for June 25

The Village of Gowanda six week summer recreation program will hold registration on Monday, June 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at St. John Park. Children that have completed kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to attend the program that commences on Thursday, July 5.

A parent/guardian or grandparent must be present to register their children/grandchildren on June 25. If they are not able to attend, they can register on the first day of their attendance in July.

There is no cost to attend this program. A free lunch is provided each day along with swimming at the high school pool, arts & crafts, recreational games and optional field trips (there is a cost for field trips). The program runs each weekday beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at St. John Park from July 5 through August 10. In case of rain, the program shifts to the Gowanda Middle School.
