Fredonia girls swim team defeats Olean, 110-75

Fredonia’s girls swim squad (3-0) beat Olean, 110-75, in a Tuesday meet.

Riley Drummond continued her aquatic excellence, setting a new school record in the 100 breaststroke with a winning time of 1:08.15. She qualified for the season-ending sectional meet with that effort — the fourth event she has qualified for in the last three meets, according to coach Joanne Lotter.

Drummond also won the 100 fly in 1:00.44 and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team that also included Grace Mroczka, Mackenzie Quinn and Tori Spacc.

Also for Fredonia, Alexandra Pucci-Schafer won in diving, an event she has not lost this season. McKayla Polowy won the 500 freestyle in 5:43.06 for Fredonia. Quinn grabbed the victory in the 200 individual medley, swimming that in 2:25.75.

Three other Fredonia swimmers qualified for sectionals: Jane Fortna in the 200 free, Abby Roth in the 200 IM and Kaelyn Zebraski in the 100 free.

“They are training very hard and it’s showing in the pool. We are doing well,” Lotter said of her team.

Fredonia returns to the pool Tuesday at Chautauqua Lake.
