Fredonia High golf squads victorious

BEMUS POINT — The Fredonia, Cassadaga Valley and Maple Grove high school golf teams competed in cold, damp conditions at Bemus Point Golf Club Wednesday afternoon.

The Fredonia boys squad won over Maple Grove, 28.5 to 26.5, and Cassadaga Valley, 35-20. Maple Grove won its boys’ matchup with CV, 36-19. Fredonia’s girls team beat the Maple Grove girls, 30-25.

Maple Grove’s Ben Lockwood was the boys’ medalist with a 41. Titus Miller of Cassadaga Valley had the next-best score, a 44. Drew Keleman of Maple Grove followed with a 45, while Fredonia’s Nick Novelli and Lucas Hoffman each carded scores of 47 and the Hillbillies’ Bo Huggins contributed a 49.

On the girls’ side, Fredonia’s Caroline Cameron was the medalist, recording a 49. her teammate, Ashley Holt, was second place with a 55. Maple Grove’s top scores were from Tabitha Boughton (60) and Anna Tranum (62).

“Shout out to Cameron for medalling,” said Fredonia coach Alex Conti, who also wanted to congratulate Maple Grove for fielding a girls’ golf team for the first time.

Fredonia returns to the golf course Friday against Falconer.
