Fredonia girls beat Dunkirk, 8-0

The Fredonia Lady ‘Billies have come a long way from a 1-4 start to the season. That has never been more evident than it was on Friday, as Fredonia beat the Dunkirk Lady Marauders by a score of 8-0 in a league matchup in girls varsity soccer at Fredonia High School.

Fredonia had a four goal game from freshman Emily Timmerman, who completed her hat trick before the halfway mark of the first half.

“It was a breakout game for her,” said Fredonia head coach Brett Gould. “She played exceptionally well.”

Laural Erick added two goals and three assists, while Sofia Russo and Ella Gould each scored, as well.

“It sure does feel good to see the goals come in bunches,” said Coach Gould. “I’m really proud of the kids, top to bottom.”

Fredonia has now gone 7-1-1 in its last nine games, including three straight shutouts. The Lady ‘Billies have won in many different ways, but Friday’s blowout was the last hurdle for Fredonia to clear.

“There’s one destination, and we can drive many different roads to get there,” said Coach Gould.

Fredonia is in action next on Wednesday at Olean.
