North Collins earns shot at home playoff game

NORTH COLLINS — North Collins (4-12) took down Ellicottville, 4-3, in Section VI CCAA Division 2 East baseball action at North Collins High School, on Monday. The Eagles capitalized on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning that scored Christian Loretto, giving North Collins a 4-3 victory and a chance at a home playoff game.

Tyler Mathis was the starting pitcher for the Eagles on the day and struck out nine batters over six innings pitched. Lucas Marsh was the losing pitcher for Ellicottville.

Michael Warsaw went 2-for-3, leading the way for North Collins offensively and Loretto went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and scored the game winning run.

The victory gave North Collins the possibility of a home playoff game next Tuesday. Their playoff destiny will be determined in a coin flip with Pine Valley — with the winner earning a home playoff game — on Wednesday at the playoff seeding meeting.
