Dunkirk, Chautauqua Lake earn wins

BUFFALO — Jessica Beehler continued to put up monster numbers Tuesday night, leading Dunkirk to a 98-61 nonleague basketball victory over Nichols.

Beehler scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 11 assists and had seven steals as the Marauders raised their record to 11-1 heading into today’s nonleague game at home against Niagara Wheatfield.

Kymi Nance added 24 points and 11 rebounds, Nadara Odell had 22 points, and Olivia Smith had 20 points, including six 3-pointers. Amari Carter contributed 9 points and 11 boards.

Dunkirk put the game away early, erupting for 55 points by halftime.

Quinn Benchley led Nichols with 21 points and Allison McCluskey chipped in 10.

Chautauqua Lake 49, Cassadaga Valley 29

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds stormed by the Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars 49-29 on Tuesday night.

The Lady Thunderbirds were led by Lily Woodis, who put up 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Kyleigh Perdue added eight points, three assists, and three rebounds. Mercedez Obert only added four points, but did pull in nine rebounds, while Hailey Roush had five boards and Lily Studley had four. Alexis Jacobson added four steals.

The Lady Thunderbirds (9-4) are next in action on Friday, Jan. 24, when the Dunkirk Lady Marauders come to town at 6 p.m., while the Lady Cougars (5-6) will travel to Frewsburg to take on the Lady Bears on the same day, with a 7:30 p.m. start time.
