Larson comes up huge for Black Knights

SILVER CREEK — Sean Helmer admitted it took a while for Silver Creek/Forestville to “get used to playing football” again after having a pause to the start of its season.

But, boy, did the Black Knights make up for lost time.

Sparked by five touchdowns by Hunter Larson and 534 yards in total offense, they rallied for a 33-27 nonleague victory over Bishop Timon-St. Jude on Saturday.

Larson rushed for 195 yards on 22 carries, including TD runs of 84, 9, 1 and 7 yards, and he caught a 46-yard scoring strike from Matt Woleben. Larson’s 7-yard scamper to paydirt late in the final period capped the comeback. Woleben also had a fine game, completing 10 of 16 passes for 193 yards; Sam Braidich added 82 yards on eight carries; and Kayden Eggleston had 61 yards on 12 trips.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude, which was added to the schedule late Friday, led 19-7 at halftime, thanks to the play of quarterback Jaden Jennings and running back Makari Inabenett. Jennings completed 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Jeff Pilarski and one to Chris Meadows. Meanwhile, Inabenett carried the ball 10 times for 167 yards and one TD.
