WILMINGTON, Ohio — The end of August brought the annual Ohio Half Arabian Horse Association Fall Show at the World Equestrian Center.

Alana Holt and her horse SS Lady Madonna, “Maddie,” had the opportunity to participate in the show and competed in several classes over the weekend of Aug. 28-29.

The pair began the show on Saturday morning by competing in the Hunt Seat Equitation Junior Rider 18 and under class. There was an extremely strong field of riders and horses in this class including the current junior national champion. A strong performance was turned in by Holt and the judges awarded her second place.

Eager to build off an excellent start, next up for the pair was the Hunter Pleasure Amateur Rider Select class. Another strong ride resulted in a first-place finish and blue ribbon for them.

To finish out the day’s competition the Pure Bred Arabian Hunter Pleasure Junior Rider class saw Lady Madonna carry Alana around the arena to another first-place finish and blue ribbon.

Sunday brought the final two classes of competition for Holt and Maddie. Their first class was the Pure Bred Hunter Pleasure Junior Owner class. Their ride was good enough to allow them to emerge from the class with the second-place red ribbon.

Their final ride of the show found Alana and Maddie competing in the Pure Bred Hunter Pleasure Open class. This class allows anyone with a purebred Arabian horse to enter regardless of age or skill level. A strong field entered the show arena but in the end Alana and Lady Madonna were up to the challenge. The judges presented them with the blue ribbon and first-place honors.

As the show season enters the fall schedule Holt is looking forward to further competitions. She continues to train at Jaxson’s Sky Equestrian Center under Rachel Retaleato. Holt also appreciates all the support she receives from Olivia and Joe Van Schoonhoven, owners of Jaxson’s Sky.
