SALAMANCA — The Gowanda Panthers held off the Salamanca Warriors 34-30 in a nonleague girls basketball game on Tuesday.

The Panthers trailed 18-12 at halftime, but exploded for a 15 point third quarter to lead 27-20 headed into the final quarter. Gowanda was outscored 10-7, but managed to secure the 34-30 victory.

Aailyah Stevens paved the way for Gowanda with 18 points and Crissa Scanlan added 11 more.

Jillian Rea paced Salamanca with 11 points and nine rebounds and Bella Wolfe picked up nine boards.

COUGARS WIN

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Cougars defeated the Forestville Hornets 52-25 in a nonleague game.

After a slow first quarter the Cougars (4-7, 0-4 CCAA Central) began to heat up first and carried a 20-11 lead into half. The night got better as the Cougars posted quarters of 17 and 15 points on the way to a 52-25 win.

Emiley Anderson paced the Cougars with 18 points, Andrea Johnson added 13 points and Aliyah Hopkins picked up 10.

Forestville (0-9, 0-6 CCAA East) was led by Tristian Olsen with 9 points.
