Haglund, Lewis power Frewsburg past Chautauqua Lake

MAYVILLE — Chase Haglund and Trent Lewis each had three hits as part of Frewsburg’s 15-hit attack as the Bears beat Chautauqua Lake 17-0 in five innings of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 baseball Saturday.

Lewis was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored, while Haglund was 3 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Aidan Gruber added two hits, including a double, and an RBI with two runs scored, while Maddox Sheesley doubled and drove in two runs.

Sheesley threw a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and four walks for Frewsburg (16-0, 10-0).

The Bears led 8-0 after three innings and put the game away with an eight-run top of the fifth inning.

Nate Henry had two singles and Devin Hewes had one for the Eagles (5-8, 5-5).

CLARENCE BLANKS JAMESTOWN

CLARENCE — Jackson Bugg had a pair of hits and two RBIs as Clarence beat Jamestown 10-0 in Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 action Saturday.

Owen Newth, Liam Graham and Finnegan Graham each added a pair of hits for the Red Devils (6-8, 4-4). Jake Hughes threw five innings and Dominic Fanale threw the final two for Clarence. They combined to strike out six and walk one.

Antonie Rodriguez had a pair of hits, while Dom Weber and Adam Kubera each added a single for the Red & Green (0-8, 0-8). Carter Rizzuto struck out two in relief for Jamestown.

WINNING RUN SCORES ON WILD PITCH

CATTARAUGUS — Cameron Mendell scored on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth inning as Ellicottville beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley 8-7 in CCAA Division 3 action Saturday.

Hunter Smith went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Cameron Mendell, Parker John, Ryan Norton and Rylan Benjamin each added a hit for the Eagles (3-7, 2-7). Mendell struck out nine in seven innings on the mound for Ellicottville.

Camden Young was 3 for 4 with three runs scored; Nate Wolf had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs; and Brayden Young also had two hits for the Timberwolves (2-8, 1-7). Wolf struck out 10 in 6 1/3 innings on the mound.
