Woleben, Cortes lift Black Knights to victory

SILVER CREEK — Matt Woleben scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Ray Cortes added 22 points, 15 rebounds and five steals to lead Silver Creek to a 79-58 victory over Cassadaga Valley in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division game.

The Black Knights (8-5, 3-4) led 18-11 after the first quarter and gained separation by outscoring the Cougars (4-12, 2-6) 25-11 in the second period. Woleben drilled four of his five 3-pointers during that run.

Nick Russo and Wyatt Harrington each had 15 points for Cassadaga Valley. Drake Pierce added 10 and Braden LeBaron chipped in 9.

SWEET NETS 34

FRANKINVILLE — Matt Sweet had a big night and Derek Ebersole connected on four free throws with under a minute remaining to send North Collins to a 55-51 victory over Franklinville in an East Division game.

Sweet finished with 34 points, including 16 in the third quarter; Chris Smith added 11 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals; and Ebersole collected seven assists, five boards and three steals as the Eagles improved to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the division.

Blake Frank led the Panthers (8-5, 0-3) with 26 points, including 14 in the third quarter; and Noah Shenk contributed 15.

PANAMA PREVAILS IN OT

PANAMA — Alex Barmore drained two free throws with about a minute remaining and Panama made one final defensive stop in a 48-46 overtime victory over Chautauqua Lake in a Division 2 West game.

The Panthers (7-4, 3-3) had a shot to win the game with about 10 seconds remaining in regulation, but the attempt rimmed out.

Carter Brink led Panama with 14 points, Bryce Hinsdale added 11 points and 11 rebounds; Gabe Roth collected 9 points; and Barmore grabbed six boards.

Brett Meadows paced the Thunderbirds (4-10, 2-6) with 15 points and seven rebounds; and Lawson Ormsby added 13 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

Panama was 16 of 23 from the foul line compared to 13 of 19 for Chautauqua Lake.

WESTFIELD — Cole Holland scored 18 points to go along with five steals, four rebounds and three assists to help Westfield down Brocton 76-19 in a Division 2 West game.

The Wolverines (14-1, 9-0) led 18-2 after the first quarter and 44-4 at halftime.

Carson Swanson added 11 points for the winners, who had eight players scored at least 5 points.

Ryan Laurito and Josh Bigelo both had 5 points for Brocton.

RANDOLPH — Randolph made 14 3-pointers en route to a 96-28 Central Division victory over Gowanda during which the Cardinals raised over $10,000 in their annual Cards vs. Cancer game.

Randolph (13-1, 7-0) led 33-4 after the first quarter and 56-10 at halftime.

Jaiden Huntington had 16 points and eight rebounds; Gabe McCoy had 16 points; Dillon Schrader had 14 points; Drew Hind had 13 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and six steals; and Owen Nelson had six assists in the win.

Tyler Smith led the Panthers (1-12, 0-8) with 8 points.

SOUTH DAYTON — Wayne Libby had 29 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Kordell Oakes had a triple-double of 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to go along with five steals as Pine Valley beat Ellicottville 76-59.

Bryce Sercu chipped in 16 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and five steals while Donavon Gugliemi had 11 points for the Panthers (), who led by two at halftime before pulling away with a 27-18 third quarter.

Logan Grinols led the Eagles () with 17 points to go along with five rebounds; Gavin Dietrich had 14 points; and Lucas Marsh had 12 points and eight rebounds.

CATTARAUGUS — Cattaraugus-Little Valley went on a 26-3 first-quarter run en route to a 65-26 CCAA East Division victory over Forestville.

Aden Wilmore led the Hornets with 10 points.

RED DRAGONS PREVAIL

Maple Grove improved to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the Central Division with a 64-51 Central Division win over Portville.

The Panthers fell to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in the league.
