Dunkirk girls bowling team finishes 2nd at sectionals

CHEEKTOWAGA — Dunkirk’s three-year reign as Section VI Division II girls bowling champions is over.

Springville rallied from a five-pin deficit entering the final game to beat Dunkirk for the Division II title Thursday at Airport Lanes.

The Griffins finished with a 813-773-798-879-754-893-4,910 to win the Division II and Class C titles.

The Marauders rolled an 834-847-780-776-785-818-4,840.

Hayden Cerrie led Dunkirk with a 149-201-179-177-186-1,051 and Summer Clark rolled a 178-179-178-148-178-185-1,046. Tayler Skelly added a 213 game and a 943 series while Lily Kibbe had a 920 series and Paige Mullen chipped in an 880 set.

Fredonia was third in Division II and Class C with a 778-904-744-782-785-788-4,781.

Allie Cook led the Hillbillies with a 158-202-150-190-145-182-1,027 and Ashleigh Hellwig spun a 182-186-136-173-160-135-972. Gillian Reed chipped in a 957 series while Erin Schrantz, Jaelyn Davis, Londyn Wilmot and Julianna Glowniak completed the Fredonia scoring.

JFK won Class D with a six-game series of 808-793-755-777-801-799-4,733 while Falconer was second in Class D with an 827-792-735-723-730-729-4,536.

Hannah Cross paced the Golden Falcons with a 225-227-188-127-139-159-1,065 and Lucinda Patterson had a 186-167-149-148-172-166-998. Rachel Himes turned in a 941 series while Kaitlyn Swan, Rachael Wallace and Alexis Cross completed Falconer’s scoring.

Frewsburg was third in Class D with a 733-676-764-717-657-748-4,295.

Kelsey Fischer led the Bears with a 190-174-171-137-128-196-996 and Katelyn Bean rolled a 164-146-183-177-155-149-974. Cloey Linn added an 834 series and Jasmine Estabrook had a 773. Sydney Golden and Jessica Estabrook split a 719 series to complete Frewsburg’s scoring.

Fifth place in Class D went to Salamanca after a 704-726-774-690-719-638-4,251.

Alicia Fiske paced the Warriors with a 151-123-171-171-159-148-923, Grace Hodara had a 119-169-164-168-144-144-908 and Faith Brown spilled a 173-161-183-135-134-117-903. Camryn Quigley, Jasmine Smith and Kailey Schnittger completed the scoring.

Clymer/Sherman was sixth in Class D with a 761-769-593-632-702-733-4,190.

Alyssa Griffin turned in a 137-178-135-155-178-161-944 and Alexis Hosier spun a 179-178-139-128-165-115-904. Adelie Jackson, Emilie Lavoice and Elliot Thompson rounded out the Clymer/Sherman team.

Gowanda finished eighth in Class D with a 595-638-704-717-632-679-3,965.

Cameron Nagel led the Panthers with an 895 set and Aubrey Smuda had an 868. Demetra Spire, Mary Denea, Paige Szalay and Cami Clark rounded out the Gowanda team.

Orchard Park won Division I and Class A with a 950-970-1,019-872-1,031-1,063-5,905.

North Tonawanda was the Class B champion with an 838-865-935-800-943-960-5,341.

Alden’s Sydney Skimmer was the top individual bowler with a 268-235-209-216-203-196 and Orchard Park’s Christa Perrin had a 226-215-224-188-222-238-1,313.
