Hillbillies keep rolling, top Gators 13-0
ALLEGANY — Erin Schrantz went 3 for 4 with a triple to lead Fredonia to a 13-0 five-inning shutout of Allegany-Limestone in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West softball Wednesday.
Ashlynn Delcamp threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk for the Hillbillies (3-0, 3-0), allowing just a two-out single to the Gators’ Taylor Foster in the fourth inning.
Jenna Truby went 2 for 3 with a third-inning inside-the-park solo home run; Jaelyn Davis was 2 for 2 with a double; and Francesca Pucci had her first varsity hit for Fredonia.
The Hillbillies put the game away with a four-run fifth inning. Pucci led off with a single, Gaby Matos hit an RBI double, Kyleigh Waterman hit an RBI double, Schrantz hit an RBI single and Davis hit an RBI double.
In the bottom of the fifth, Delcamp struck out two before retiring the final Allegany-Limestone (0-5, 0-2) batter on a comebacker.
Fredonia’s jayvee team beat Silver Creek 17-1.
DELLOW DOES IT ALL
WESTFIELD — Haleigh Dellow went 3 for 4 with a pair of solo home runs and threw a three-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Westfield topped Gowanda 9-4 in nonleague play.
The Wolverines (2-0) jumped on top 7-0 before the Panthers (0-2) were able to record an out in the second inning.
Dellow then hit her home runs in the bottom of the third and fifth innings.
Eva Gnadzinski went 3 for 4 with a double and Brynn Ernewein tripled for the hosts.
Addison Kota doubled while Gao:Wisa:S Stevens and Cameron Nagel each singled for Gowanda.
BEARS TOP JAMESTOWN
FREWSBURG — Tyra Clark’s RBI single highlighted a five-run bottom of the sixth inning as Frewsburg beat nonleague Jamestown 14-9.
Reagan Chitester led the Bears (1-1, 0-1 CCAA Division 2 West) with three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored while Teghan Trocki had two hits and scored two runs.
Chitester and Trocki also combined on a six-hitter in the circle with eight strikeouts.
Aubrey Reynolds hit a solo home run in the third inning and scored four runs for the Red Raiders (1-1, 1-0 CCAA Division 1 West).
Lindsey Spitz struck out three and allowed eight hits for Jamestown.
T’BIRDS SILENCE PANAMA
MAYVILLE — Olivia Herrington, Cayzlee Johnson and Jillian Miller combined on a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts and one walk as Chautauqua Lake beat Panama 10-2 in Division 2 West.
The Thunderbirds (3-0, 3-0) led 3-0 after the first inning and scored six more runs in the second.
Herrington went 4 for 4 with two doubles and a triple while Johnson was also 4 for 4 with a double and a triple.
Mandy Brink and Sarah Harvey scored both runs for the Panthers (1-1, 1-1) in the fourth inning.
