Spacciapolli 11th at sectionals
GOWANDA — Josephine Corey is headed to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association girls golf championships.
The Southwestern senior shot a 92 at the Section VI state qualifier at Gowanda Country Club on Monday to earn the right to play at McGregor Links CC in Wilton June 4-6.
Meanwhile, Fredonia’s Juli Spacciapolli shot a 94 and is a second-alternate.
Joining Corey on the All-Section VI team are individual champion Rosie Dinunzio of Clarence, 79; runner-up Lauren Jaskier of Depew, 85; Emily Morelli of Clarence, 86; Tori Leach of Clarence, 86; Kylie Dean of Clarence, 87; Anika Michel of Clarence, 89; Sophia Brown of Lancaster, 92; and Riley Morris of Lancaster 92. Adriana Pliszka of Lancaster, who shot a 93, is the first alternate.
Other area golfers who competed and their scores were Jocelyn Wintersteen of Cassadaga Valley, 101; Sydnee Hoffman of Fredonia, 103; Avery Salvaggio of Jamestown 108; Sophie Bartman of Olean 109; Nilla Ecklof of Jamestown, 110; CeCe Eklum of Jamestown, 116; Lauren Jasinski of Cassadaga Valley, 117; and Lauren Cerrie of Fredonia 122.
