Fredonia struggles in D1 West loss to Randolph

Randolph pulled away from Fredonia with a 9-2 third quarter and used a 21-7 fourth quarter to coast to a 47-19 victory over the Hillbillies in the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West opener for both teams Thursday at Fredonia High School.

Quinn Pence led the Cardinals (4-3, 1-0) with 17 points and three assists to go along with six rebounds and four steals while Kyra Pence had 10 points, four steals and four rebounds. Katelyn Storer had 8 points and eight rebounds in the victory.

Bailey Wegrzynowski led the Hillbillies (3-5, 0-1) with 8 points.

Southwestern put on a 3-point shooting display, hitting 14 shots from long distance in a 77-39 Division 1 West victory over Dunkirk.

Kira Ricker led the Trojans (7-2, 1-0) with 20 points, including six 3-pointers, while Reece Beaver had 20 points, including four 3-pointers. Bella Sirianni hit a pair of 3-pointers while Braya Beaver and Leeya Riley each had one.

Southwestern dished out 24 assists on 29 made field goals. Maddie McIntyre had 14 points and 11 rebounds; Reece Beaver had six assists and three steals; Lauren Cotter had nine rebounds and three assists; and Ricker had eight rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Molly DiCara led the Marauders (2-5, 0-1) with 17 points and five steals; Anadallane Rodriguez had 12 points and three steals; and Shyla Karin had 10 points.

KRENZER SETS CAREER HIGH

GOWANDA — Senior Dani Krenzer set a career high with 33 points as Falconer beat Gowanda 54-41 in Division 1 East action.

Krenzer, who missed Tuesday’s game against Clymer due to illness, scored 13 points in the first quarter as the Golden Falcons (5-3, 1-0) jumped out to an 18-8 lead.

Augustine Krenzer had 9 points; Dani Krenzer had six rebounds, four assists and four steals; Kayla Lynn had six rebounds; and Kamryn Harper grabbed five rebounds.

Crissa Scanlan led the Panthers (3-4, 0-1) with 12 points and Chloe Luther had 11.

FREWSBURG — Six 3-pointers in the first quarter allowed Frewsburg to jump out to a 22-9 lead en route to a 62-30 Division 1 East victory over Salamanca.

Teghan Trocki had three 3-pointers and Taytum Jimerson had two in the opening eight minutes for the Bears (3-5, 1-0).

Jadyn Trocki finished with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and seven steals; Teghan Trocki had 18 points, including four 3-pointers, five assists and three blocked shots; and Jimerson had 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and eight steals for Frewsburg.

SINCLAIRVILLE — Portville outscored Cassadaga Valley 21-6 in the third quarter and pulled away for a 55-39 Division 1 East victory.

Lillian Bentley scored 10 of her team-high 17 points during the decisive period for the Panthers (6-1, 2-0).

Teagan Kosinski scored 12 points, including three first-quarter 3-pointers, to go along with five assists and two steals; Jackie Scanlon had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists; and Bentley grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots for Portville.
