GOWANDA — George Pierce Jr. defeated Mike Rylowicz in the final match to capture the 23rd annual Jerry Mesionowski Memorial Masters bowling tournament at K&L Lanes last month.

Playing in a double-elimination format, Pierce won all five of his matches to hold off the 16 bowlers who made the final round after eight games.

Rylowicz finished second, followed by Steve Dando and Alex Haley, who finished third and fourth respectively. Other finalists included Derek Bixby, fifth; Scott Jagoda, sixth; Alex Dailey, seventh; and Wayne Ames, eighth. The ninth- through 16th-place finishers were Ryan Robe, Josh Wilmot, Michael D’Amico, Nolan Priolette, Ted Schwalbe, Robert Patterson Jr and Matt Miceli.

The tournament, which was sponsored by Sunset Truck and Auto, had 63 entries.
