Kelly ends in 86th place at Mark Twain GC
ELMIRA — The New York State Public High School Athletic Association boy’s golf state championship came down to a playoff on Monday at Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira. Section IV’s Dante Bertoni of Union Endicott shot another 73 on Monday while Section V’s Brody Burgess of Victor improved from Sunday’s 76 to a 70 on Monday to tie the pair at 2-over 146.
Staying steady it was Bertoni to claim the state championship in a playoff on the 18th hole.
Locally, Southwestern’s Griffin Bogdanowicz placed 76th after shooting an 86 to finished 28-over 172. Fredonia’s Ryan Kelly was just a couple strokes behind, firing an 89 on Monday to finish 32-over 177 for 86th place.
