Helms scores twice for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley
SINCLAIRVILLE — Falconer/Cassadaga Valley scored all its goals in the second half en route to a 3-1 victory over Fredonia in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls soccer game Wednesday.
Brynn Helms tallied two goals, both assisted by Bailey Olson, and Julianna Roth converted a penalty kick in the final minute for the Golden Cougars.
Ellyson Baglia was in goal for the winners (6-1-1, 3-1-1) and made five saves.
Cece Tonelli tallied the lone goal for the Hillbillies (2-5, 1-4) eight minutes into the first half.
BEARS ROLL
FREWSBURG — Behind three goals and two assists from Audrey Eckwahl, Frewsburg breezed to a 10-0 victory over Westfield/Brocton in a Division 2 West game.
Jaden Jimerson (two goals, one assist) and Taytum Jimerson (one goal, three assists) both had five-point performances; Kealy Caflisch collected a pair of goals; Brionna Dumaine and Addison Hultberg both had one goal; and Aleah Bjork chipped in one assist for the Bears (7-1-1, 5-0-0). Keeper Elysse Gruber made three saves.
Westfield Brocton falls to 2-4-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the league.
EAST DIVISION TIE
SOUTH DAYTON — Salamanca and Pine Valley/Gowanda played to a 1-1 tie in East Division action.
Bella Wolfe opened the scoring with a goal six minutes int the first half for the Warriors. Seventeen minutes later, Sarah Kruszka tallied on a penalty kick for the Panthers.
Keianna John made 11 saves for the Warriors (1-5-2, 1-3-1), while Destiny Lindquist made 10 saves for the Panthers (1-5-2, 1-3-1).
CARDINALS FINISH STRONG
RANDOLPH — A three-goal second half lifted Randolph over Cattaraugus-Little Valley 3-0 in East Division action at Weeden Park.
Gianna Bowles scored from Kyler Patterson, Jadelyn McMaster tallied from Sara Smith and Grace Benson scored from Sadie Steward for the Cardinals (6-2-0, 4-1-0).
Stella Smith made six saves to record the clean sheet.
Kierra Knoblock made 14 saves for the Timberwolves (2-4-1, 1-3-1).
PACHECO NETS WINNER
JAMESTOWN — Amara Pacheco scored from Madison Burgess in overtime to send Jamestown to a 2-1 victory over Olean in Division 1 West play at Strider Field.
Allie Stayer scored for the Huskies (4-3-2, 2-2-2) from Leea Kopp in the first half.
Ella Propheter scored in the first half for the Red Raiders (2-5-0, 2-4-0).
Morgan Maloney made 10 saves for Jamestown and Emma Edwards made six saves for Olean.
